Peacefully at St. Lawrence Lodge , Brockville, Ontario with his family at his side on March 8, 2010. Arnold Frederick King in his 82nd year, beloved husband of the late Shirley (Myatt). Loving father of Vicki Rutherford, Beverly and Steven King; father-in-law to Andrew Rutherford, Ken Hill and Jodi Oliver-King; grandfather to Quinn and Brooke Rutherford, Nicholas and Jesse KingHill and Myatt and Elly Oliver-King; fondly remembered by Shirley Sniatenchuk, Dale Orton, Ellen Lynn Coates, Frederick Glennie, Eileen Hills, Karen and Albert Chrumka, Maureen McRae, Brad and Mary-Jane Hills; Cheryl and Jake Tomlison, Alan and Linda Mattinson, Olive, Leah and Laurel Clark and Scott Robertson. Predeceased by Frederick and Mary King, and sisters Dorothy, Florence and Mabel. Arnie touched many people with his wit, humour and lust for life. Born and raised in Conns Mills, Nova Scotia shaped Arnie’s love for hunting, fishing and the outdoors. After moving to Oxford for his high school years, Arnie met Shirley. They married in Shawinigan Falls, Quebec and moved to Brockville to open Maitland Works in 1952. Arnie and Shirley spent their summer vacations in Oxford and at Heather’s Beach. Always a sports enthusiast, Arnie played baseball, hockey, and in later years, golf with his sons-in-law Andrew and Ken, grandson Nicholas and his many friends. He lived his life according to one of his favourite expressions: “You dance with them that brung ya.” Private arrangements are in the care of Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville ON (613-342-2828).
