Carol Jean MacKenzie
<p>It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Carol Jean MacKenzie on January 8, 2019. Carol was born in Truro, Nova Scotia, the daughter of the late Wilson and Lillian Lynds. After her marriage to husband Bob, she lived in Ithaca NY, Berkeley CA and for many years in Montreal where they raised their children and welcomed the arrival of three grandchildren. After retiring to Brockville in 2013, she was often seen at the Brockville YMCA in exercise classes or in the pool. Carol enjoyed gardening, cycling, hiking and cross-country skiing and was a passionate volunteer in the Palliative Care Program at the Brockville General Hospital. Carol had a trademark infectious smile that reflected her genuine interest in others.</p><p><br></p><p>Carol is survived by her husband Robert, her children, Kevin (Cory); Lisa (Christopher); grandchildren Jackson, Duncan and Sydney; sisters, Patsy Spence; Gertrude (Hollis) McRae; Bonnie (Eugene) Roode; Lola Dunlap; Laura (Don) Shaw; Diane (Rod) Forbes; brother, David (Priscilla) Lynds and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Sharon; brothers in law Clarence McCallum, Luther Spence, and Roy Dunlap.</p><p><br></p><p>Friends are invited to meet with the family at the Irvine Funeral Home, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 1-3 pm. Cremation has occurred and in accordance with Carol’s wishes, there will not be a formal service at this time. Her ashes will be interred following a family graveside service at a later date in Truro, NS. Memorial donations to the Brockville and District Hospital Foundation Palliative Care program will be appreciated by the family.
