Catherine Whitelaw Dodds Obituary

On Wednesday, March 6, 2019, after a long illness, Catherine Dodds, RN, died at Sherwood Park Manor. Her family celebrates her life on Saturday, March 9, at 2 pm at Irvine Funeral Home.

Catherine was born April 17, 1922 in Kinghorn, Fife, Scotland. She was the youngest of her siblings and lived the longest dying in her 97th year. She was married to the Reverend Cecil, who predeceased her in 1999. In 1953 Catherine and Cecil emigrated with their two young children, Joan and Sandy. Catherine was a great mom, a good friend, and her career, as a registered nurse in both Scotland and Canada led to her being the first inpatient coordinator and discharge planner at the Arnprior Hospital. Her ready smile, twinkling blue eyes and soft Scottish accent endeared her to all those whom she met in her long life. Always the gracious hostess, Catherine truly loved to share her Scottish heritage.

She will be missed by her family: Joan Huether (David), granddaughters, Suzanne (Stephanie), and Robyn (Eric) and great grandson Grayson. Alexander (Sandy) Dodds (Sharon), grandson, Lachlan (Laura Ann), and great grandson William.

The family is grateful to Sherwood Park Manor for their kind and tender care for Catherine over the last six years. Remember Catherine with donations to Sherwood Park Manor. A service to honour Catherine will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the Irvine Funeral Home, 4 James St., E., Brockville followed by a reception.
