Donald Williamson passed away peacefully in Ottawa, Ontario on January 12, 2010. He is survived by his four children: Cathy Hortop (Dave), Steve (Jennifer), David (Gillian) and Andy (Krystyna); and eleven grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret in 2002 shortly after their 51st wedding anniversary, and in 2005 married long-time family friend June Fogal who will dearly miss him. Don was born and raised in Montreal, and always had a love of big band jazz and swing music. He combined this musical passion with an aptitude for applied science, and graduated with a B.Sc.Engineering from McGill University in 1951, specializing in Electrical Engineering. It was his dream to work in broadcasting and communications, and he owned CHUC/CFMX radio in Cobourg, Ontario where he lived and raised his family until 1976 when they relocated to Calgary. He was responsible for the design of many of Canada's transmission towers still in use today. In 1983, Don and Marg moved to Washington D.C. where he continued his consulting work until retirement in 2005. He retired to Brockville to be close to family. For much of his life, Don was a devoted member of the Rotary Club, attending meetings where ever he could. The family extends a special thank you to the caring staff at Barrhaven Manor in Ottawa where Don lived the past year. A memorial service will be held Saturday January 23 at 2:00pm at the Roselawn Tribute Centre, 2451 County Road 15, Maitland, Ontario (613-348-3405).
