Elaine Sarah McClintock

<p>McClintock, Elaine Sarah Snell (March 15, 1935-April 2, 2017) – died peacefully at Brockville General Hospital after a long and courageous fight with breast cancer. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, John, and sons James (Sandra) and Mike and grandchildren Joanne and Kevin. She is also survived by her sister Edna and her nieces, nephews, and sisters- and brothers-in-law. She was predeceased by her brother Bill and daughter-in-law Charlene. Born in Cloverdale, BC, Elaine attended Langley High School and the University of British Columbia School of Nursing before being offered a job with the VON that brought her to Brockville in 1957. In her career, she was a leader in nursing and health science education as well as creative arts and continuing education, first with the Brockville General Hospital Regional School of Nursing and later with St. Lawrence College. She helped found and remained very active with the Leeds and Grenville Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada and also Education for Quality Accessibility. Elaine was a tireless champion and fundraiser for people with MS and other disabilities, as well as an advocate for improved access to home care and long-term care. She loved gardening, animals, painting, pottery, photography, reading, travelling, galleries, museums, good food, and good music. Most of all, Elaine loved spending time with her family, her many friends, and her cats and dogs. </p><p><br></p><p>Visitation will be held at Irvine Funeral Home at 4 James Street East, Brockville on Friday, April 7 from 1-3 pm and from 6-8 pm, followed by a funeral on Saturday, April 8 at Wall Street United Church at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations to the Elaine McClintock Leadership Award at St. Lawrence College or to the charity of your choice will be gratefully acknowledged. Elaine’s family expresses deepest appreciation to her many physicians, nurses, and caregivers who helped keep her well and active for so many years. </p>
