Elsie Lee Bonner Turverey, 85 years old of Brockville, Ontario, and formerly of Syracuse, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, August 8, 2014. Mrs. Turverey, was the daughter of Bruce and Nannie Drew Bonner, of Atlasburg, Pennsylvania. She was a graduate of Malone College in Canton, OH, where she majored in Religious Education.


Mrs. Turverey partnered with her husband in ministry at four Wesleyan Churches in New York State, including service with the Onondaga Indians. From 1984-1990 they began their final ministry at Brockville Wesleyan Church in Ontario. Mrs. Turverey continued to serve in several capacities in the church and served in various leadership positions within the Central New York and Central Canada Districts of the Wesleyan Church.


Mrs. Turverey is survived by one son, Stephen (Becky) of Liverpool, NY; two daughters, Lucinda (Earl David) Webster of Deal Island, Maryland and Sharon Sheer of Liverpool, NY; 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; one brother, George Ray Bonner and two sisters, Nannie Marie Banas and Patricia Janacak, all of Pennsylvania along with numerous nieces and nephews.


Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Rev. William Turverey, two brothers, Frank Bonner and William Bonner and one sister, Erla Jean Hill.


Funeral Services will be held at Welter Price Funeral Home, 3111 James Street in Syracuse, on Thursday at 2:00pm with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Her son-in-law, Pastor Earl David Webster, Sr. will be officiating.


With a heart for missions, Mrs. Turverey has requested in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to either the Missions Budget at Brockville Wesleyan Church, 33 Central Ave E, Brockville, Ontario K6V 4N4 or to the school building project with Charitable Ministries in India where her granddaughter did mission work through Rock Creek Methodist Youth Group, c/o Barbara Jennings 10760 Harrison Point Road, Chance, MD 21821.
