Errington (Ric) McMahon Obituary

With great sadness the family of Ric McMahon announce his passing at the Brockville General Hospital on March 2, 2011 in his 96th year. Beloved partner of Margaret (Marney) Macleod of Brockville. Loved and loving uncle of Patricia Clemons (David), Elizabeth McMahon and Erica Holding (Dan). Predeceased by his brother F. Elmer McMahon and by sisters Dora Shrimpton, Jane Wilkinson, and by nephew Jim Wilkinson. Fondly remembered by three Godchildren, Ric was a great uncle to seven and great great uncle to four. Ric was given long and affectionate attention by Marney's family for many generations in Brockville. He served proudly in WWII on the Western front, retiring as Major, and very much enjoyed a decades long attachment to and concern for his fellow veteran " Sappers" of 5 Field Co. RCE. Ric was a longtime supporter of Pickering College. The family thanks the staff and residents of The Rosedale Retirement Centre who offered Ric a warm welcome and sense of community in the last few months. Friends will be received at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville, on Sunday, March 6th after 1 pm until 2 pm when services will be held in the Chapel. Interment will take place in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto. In lieu of flowers, a remembrance may be made to a charity of one's choice.
