Frank Piccolo Obituary

Frank Piccolo (62) Following a tragedy in Mexico, Frank was transported by private Lear jet to Ottawa, where on February 12, 2012 he passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children. Frank’s last day was spent in one of his favourite places doing many of the things he loved: swimming in the ocean, having drinks in the sun with friends, and dinner and wine with his wife, Debbie, at a restaurant that was on his ‘must eat at list’. The day ended with a walk along the beach to look at the full moon over the ocean. Dear husband of Debbie Piccolo, loving father of Craig, Jaelithe, Kaitlin and husband David (Andrews), Kristen Reeves and husband Paul, grandfather to Olivia, Catherine and Marcus. Brother of Michael Piccolo and wife Pam, Tina Whitton and husband John. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews as well as Gerald Herbert and the Herbert family. Predeceased by his Father Mario Piccolo and Mother Evelyn (Sadyk). There are so many people to thank: Marilyn and Don Jaquish, and Jean and Gordon Sukut, fellow travellers in Mexico who opened their hearts and arms to assist in the hour of need; the manager and staff at Club Yebo in Playa del Carmen, owners of El Rincon De Cuca in Playa del Carmen, Cristina and Armando as well as Nicole and Ronald, Wilm and all the other guests and friends that made Frank’s last few weeks fabulous; the owners of Koko Loco in Cancun, Eduardo and Sophia and their son Gabrielle whose hugs and kindness to total strangers turned us into instant friends; the medical staff at Playa Med Hospital in Cancun, especially to Dr. Ruiz whose care was exceptional and whose assistance in helping get Frank home was invaluable; the medical staff and flight crew of Air Evac International who transported Frank home in luxury with exceptional care, and finally I would like to thank Geralyn and the medical staff of the ICU at the Ottawa Civic hospital for letting his wife and family share Frank’s last few hours with hugs and kisses and without gloves. A loving husband, father, brother and true friend to many, he will be sorely missed. Friends may call at Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James St., E., Brockville on Friday, February 17, 2012 from 7-9 pm. A service in celebration of Frank’s life will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 11 am followed by a reception. Following cremation, Frank will be taken home by his family. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Brockville and District Hospital Foundation Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Program.
