World War II Veteran Stormont Dundas Glengarry Highlanders Peacefully at St. Lawrence Lodge, with his loving family at his side, on Saturday, June 20th, 2009; Frederick Hellyer at the age of 87 years. Beloved husband of the former Mary (May) Anderson of Brockville. Loving father of Gordon and his wife Charlotte of Toronto and cherished grandfather of Andrea and Mark. Dear brother of Kenneth Hellyer and his wife Doreen of Cornwall, Ruth Forrest and her husband Jim, and Gladys Jacques (the late George) all of Brockville, Phyllis Hamelin (the late Harold) of Lindsay, Bob Hellyer (the late Nancy) of Smiths Falls, Rolland Hellyer (the late Lillian), Patricia Knowles and her husband Al, and Barbara Hannewyk and her husband Joe all of Brockville. Also survived by his sisters-in-law Eveyln O'Connor and Frances Miller and her husband Jim and by many nieces and nephews. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Friday, June 26th from 7-9 p.m and Saturday, June 27th after 1:00 p.m. A ceremony in celebration of Fred's life will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, June 27th at 2:00 p.m. Interment Roselawn Memorial Gardens. In remembrance, donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund or to the charity of choice will be gratefully acknowledged.
