<p>Very peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, at the Brockville General Hospital, on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the age of 95 years. Beloved wife of the late Kenneth MacKenzie. Loving mother of three sons, James (Pauline), David (Jane), and Stephen (Sam). Dear grandmother of Aaron, Graham, Georgia, Ella, Stephen, Paul (Allison), Jack, Jena and Nicholas. Gert also leaves cousins, nieces and nephews and will be fondly remembered by a wealth of dear friends, especially Bill and Gwen Paul and family. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Eva Dwyer, by a brother James and a sister Florence Mitchell. She was a tireless community volunteer right up to recent months, and a member of the Brockville Lioness Club, the Catholic Women's League, and the St. Vincent de Paul Hospital Auxiliary among many other involvements. </p><p><br></p><p>Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville, Friday, October 2nd from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Members of the Catholic Women's League will gather for prayers Friday at 3:00 p.m. The Liturgy of the Christian Funeral will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 3rd, followed by interment in the Parish Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Brockville and District Palliative Care or the Canadian Cancer Society will be gratefully acknowledged.
