Sadly on Monday, December 18, 2017 family and friends said goodbye to Gilbert, after a long and courageous battle with dementia. He passed away at the Brockville General Hospital, Charles Street site at the age of 92. Gilbert is survived by his wife Barbara and sister Janet Roy, stepchildren Micheal and Vicki Burch, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada and Scotland.

Gilbert loved the great outdoors and his Standard Poodles. He loved nothing more than to be in the middle of a lake in a canoe with one of his dogs. He was a member of many different dog clubs and, after retirement, spent his time with his therapy dogs visiting long term care facilities sharing his best friends with the residents.
