Pitre, Godfrey, Passed away peacefully at the Brockville General Hospital Palliative Care Centre on Friday, May 9, 2014; Joseph Godfrey Pitre, at the age of 73 years. Beloved husband of Julie (nee Bernard) and proud father of Gilbert (Elizabeth) and Lisa (Mike). Cherished grandfather of Jessica. Loving son of Mrs. Neldia Pitre of Bathurst, N.B. and the late Paul Pitre. Dear brother of Valmond (Louise), Angela Sjonger, Fidel (Linda), Marcella Blaedow (Steve), Lionel (Linda), Alvin (Sylvia) and Desneiges Lavigne (Michael). Also survived by his sister-in-law Annette Pitre, by numerous brothers and sisters-in-law in the Bernard family, and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Napoleon (Nap) and Emmanuel, and by his brother-in-law John Sjonger.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville, Monday, May 12th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John Bosco Church, 175 Windsor Drive, Brockville, at 11am on Tuesday, May 13th. Godfrey will be laid to rest in his native home of South Tetagouche, New Brunswick, with visitation at Elhatton's Funeral Home, 187 St. George Street, Bathurst, on Friday, May 16th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and a Funeral Liturgy in the Elhatton Chapel on Saturday, May 17th at 11:00 a.m. Interment at a later date in St. Mary Magdalene Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Ottawa Heart Institute, the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre or the Brockville and District Palliative Care will be gratefully acknowledged.
