<p>~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~</p><p><br></p><p>Passed from this life at her home surrounded by her loving family on Friday July 24, 2020.</p><p>Gwen was a strong resilient passionate woman who lived a life rich with love and family and friendship.</p><p>She touched the lives of many and always had room in her heart and home for those who needed care. </p><p><br></p><p>Gwen was a devoted volunteer with Palliative Care and the Volunteer Auxiliary of St Lawrence Lodge for many years</p><p><br></p><p>Visitors and loved ones were always welcome to enjoy a wonderful meal and great company. She was a fabulous baker and donated to many bazaars and bake sales. Her fruitcakes and Christmas squares were usually the first to sell out.</p><p><br></p><p>She was an avid walker and could be seen walking many early mornings with her life-long friend Faye, who many thought was her sister.</p><p><br></p><p>Gwen loved her gardens and could often be found in her pink rubber boots, garden hose in hand among the flowers.</p><p><br></p><p>She was a well- known business owner of the Shoe Court downtown Brockville. Working in the shop was her passion and she so loved her customers and the relationships she built over the years in her business career. In her younger years she worked for AL Myers and Cindy shoes.</p><p><br></p><p>The sunshine and warmth of Florida drew her there and she spent many winters in the Naples / Ft Myers area during her retirement years.</p><p><br></p><p>Predeceased by her parents Charles and Leora Stone, her siblings, Emerson, Eric (Corline), Keith (Lily), Arthur (Christine), Alton (Marion) and Geraldine (Ross Crippen). </p><p><br></p><p>Also predeceased by her husband of 43 years, William Howley and her husband of 8 years, Jim Shields.</p><p>She will be so greatly missed by her children Peter Eadie (Anka), Nancy Linkletter (Maurice), Jill Howley, Susan Broome (Ted), Pam Siddall (George) and Jane Howley (Mike Jackson)</p><p><br></p><p>Her grandchildren, Ryan Eadie and Kara Goodwin; Sandy Repple, Barb and MJ Linkletter; William Howley; Sara and Steven Yeldon; Katie and Kyle Siddall; Emma and Stacey Parsonage and several great grandchildren.</p><p><br></p><p>Also survived by her step-children Margaret Key (Mike), Martha Ackerman (John) and Jim Shields and their families; her sisters-in-law Tina Harney (Jack) and Betty Howley (John) and by many friends, nieces and nephews whom she had a special bond with. </p><p><br></p><p>Forever loved, Forever missed, Always in our Hearts.</p><p><br></p><p>We would like to thank the staff at Wedgwood and St Lawrence Lodge and to Dr Ashe and the Palliative Care team at BGH and Bayshore Home Health. A special Thank you to Gwen’s Private Care Providers Donna, Nikki and Mae for their loving kindness and care for our mom in her final days.</p><p><br></p><p>A private family service will be held at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville with interment to follow at St. James Cemetery, Maitland.</p><p><br></p><p>As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Brockville and District Hospital Palliative Care Service or the St. Lawrence Lodge Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged. </p><p><br></p><p>Please take a moment to send a message of condolence to the family or share a special thought of Gwen on the Memory Wall above.
