Obituary

Acres, Irene

28th August, 1923 - 1st April, 2017

It is with great sadness we confirm the recent passing of dear Irene in her 94th year, very peacefully in her home overlooking the mighty St. Lawrence River in Brockville, Ontario, Canada.

Born in Cheshire, England, she married Peter in the UK in 1951 following his war service and later graduation as an Architect, they then flew TCA to Canada the next day, not knowing a soul there, which was an adventure and everlasting honeymoon.

Irene lived a full life in the UK with many adventures to relate, including her wartime service with the WAAF on the South Coast of England.

In Canada their early home was in a lovely village, Hudson in Quebec enjoying our rural property; on amateur stage in Hudson, singing Gilbert and Sullivan songs; tending her garden; rearing our two children; looking after 2 large dogs plus the numerous wild furry friends on the property and really enjoying her walking and golf games.

Irene always brought a smile to all she met, with her natural beauty, kind sunny nature, great sense of humour and her eternal optimism which made her so unique.

She is now so missed by her husband Peter; her brother Rundle Cook (Jeannine); our children Richard (Amy) and Karen; and our grandchildren Lauren, Justine, Cameron and Kaylee.

Arrangements entrusted to Irvine Funeral Home, 4 James St., E., Brockville. A private family memorial for Irene will be held at a later date.

Our appreciation for all the kind nursing care by RN Lauri Lyn and family right to the end.
