Irene Edith Jones

<p>Passed away peacefully at her residence in London, Ontario on Friday, October 5, 2018. Irene Edith (Brookes) Jones, at the age of 90 years. Loving wife of the late Douglas Jones and dear mother of Linda Stafford and Douglas Jones (Karen). Irene was beloved by all of her family and friends, including her grandchildren, Garrett, Dwayne, Robert, Kristen and Justyne; sister Dorothy Sharkey; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Ferneny, eight siblings, and her parents Edith and Donald Brookes.</p><p><br></p><p>Irene enjoyed spending time at the Legion with her family and friends while having the occasional beer and, as an army wife, she was given the opportunity to be a Silver Cross Mother. She also enjoyed travelling with her family to many places (including 12 countries in Europe), preparing amazing meals or going out for dinners with family and friends, going to the local market and growing her own fresh vegetables. </p><p><br></p><p>Irene was a very strong, independent, and extremely prim and proper lady who was frequently told she looked like the Queen of England. </p><p><br></p><p>A celebration of Irene's life was held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Br. No.97, Prescott following a private graveside service at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Maitland. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund will be gratefully acknowledged.
