James Shields

At the Brockville General Hospital on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at the age of 85 years. Beloved husband of Gwendolyn (Howley) Shields. Loving father of Margie Key (Michael), Martha Ackerman (John), and Jim Shields. Fondly remembered by his grandchildren Ted Key (Meghan) and Robin Key (Kris Davis) and his great-grandchildren Lucy, Rosie, Hannah, Lily, Tessa and Will. Dear brother of Hazel Smeathers (the late Ronald) and uncle of Ron Smeathers (Shirley). Jim will be fondly remembered by step-children Peter (Anke), Nancy (Maurice) and their families; along with Jill, Susan, Pam (George) and Jane; and by step-grandchildren William, Sara, Steven, Katie, Kyle, Emma and Stacey. He was predeceased by his parents James and Lyla (Robertson) Shields, and by his former wife Mary (O'Neill) Shields. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville, on Saturday, December 1st from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. when a ceremony of remembrance will be held in the chapel. A reception will follow in the Irvine Reception Centre. Private interment at Oakland Cemetery. In remembrance, donations to the charity of choice will be gratefully acknowledged.
