Surrounded by the love of her family, in the Brockville General Hospital, on Monday, September 7, 2009 at the age of 77 years. Beloved wife of Jack Riordan. Loving mother of Deborah Hencher (Clyde), Diana Jazwinzki (John), Donna Letourneau (Greg), P.Michael Riordan (Marian), Maureen Riordan (Errol dos Santos) and the late Mary Margaret Riordan. Also survived by eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; as well as by her sister Reta Carey. Predeceased by her brother Bob Baird. Joan had retired from a business career with B. F. Goodrich in Kitchener. She had been an active volunteer with the V.O.N., as well as with the Veterans Hospital at St. Anne de Bellevue in Montreal, and in earlier years in the schools attended by her children. Joan was a devoted mother to all her children, but especially toward the needs of her daughter Mary Margaret who predeceased her in 2003. She was a member of the Brockville Country Club and the Glen Lakes Country Club in Brooksville, Florida. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Thursday, September 10th from 7-9 p.m. The Liturgy of the Christian Funeral will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church, 66 Church Street, Brockville, on Friday, September 11th at 10:00 a.m. In remembrance, donations to the Alzheimer's Society of Leeds and Grenville will be gratefully acnkowledged.
