John Hollinghurst

Passed away peacefully on December 17, 2009. He is survived by his wife Ruth, son Simon and daughter Louise (Marentette), Simon’s wife, Morgain (nee Jones) and children Guen, William and Harriet, and Louise’s husband, John, and children Chelsea and Ian. John worked at Philips Cables, and made many friends in Brockville. He and Ruth moved many times during their lives together, residing in Southport England, The Crowsnest Pass AB, Tsawwassen BC, Brockville, Carmel IN, and Suffern NY. After retiring they returned to Brockville lured by a love of the river. John enjoyed gardening, golfing, and music. For many years he was the driving force behind the Thousand Islands Jazz Festival. His grandchildren will miss fishing with their Grandad, and all the fun games and activities he organized. John and Ruth would like to thank all their wonderful friends and neighbours for their support during the past year. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Sunday, December 20th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A ceremony in celebration of John’s life will be held on Monday, December 21st at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish of St. Lawrence Anglican Church. Cremation will follow at Roselawn. In remembrance, donations to the Parish of St. Lawrence Building Fund or Brockville and District Palliative Care will be gratefully acknowledged.
