Retired Teacher - B.C.I.V.S. At Brockville General Hospital on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the age of 87 years. Beloved husband of Dorothy M. Switzer (nee McAughey). Dear brother of Richard Switzer and his wife Chris of Ponty Pool. Fondly remembered by close friend Kathy Peer and her family and by his Godchildren Brenda Calhoun of Bowmanville and Brian Fairbrother of Mississauga. Predeceased by his parents Baden and Kathleen (Ripley) Switzer and by his brother Lyle (Sonny). Family and friends may pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Sunday, May 6th from 6.30 - 8:00 pm. A Ceremony in celebration of John's life will be held in the Chapel on Monday, May 7th at 11:00 a.m. followed by a gathering in the Irvine Reception Centre. Private interment at Oakland Cemetery. In remembrance, donations to the Leeds and Grenville SPCA or Charity Choice will be gratefully acknowledged. Members of the Sussex Lodge #5, G.R.C. are requested to gather for a Masonic memorial service at 7:00 Sunday evening.
