Entered into rest peacefully at the Brockville General Hospital, Garden Street Site on December 21, 2016, with his wife by his side, John Albert Martin Thompson at the age of 75 years. Beloved husband of 49 years and best friend of Geraldine (Gerri) Terrance and loving father of Janet Thompson and Laura Darby (Tom). Proud grandfather of Stuart and Mitchell Darby. Brother of Norrie (Donna) and Grace Lafleche. Predeceased by his parents Charles Thompson and Hilda Lefebvre; by brothers Bill, Perry and Robert and by sisters Gwen Thompson, Helen Latcham, Ann Annand, Mary and Marion Thompson. Brother in law to Brian Terrance (Sandra) of Ottawa, and Joanne Thompson (Ben) of Brockville. Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Throughout his 37 year career at CIBC, John moved several times and enjoyed the many people he met along the way. He had great times curling and golfing and enjoyed several trips with Gerri. He contributed to the community through many years of volunteer service. He loved spending time with family and friends, and will be missed by all.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Wednesday, December 28th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 10:00 am at the St. Francis Xavier Church, Brockville. Interment will take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Salvation Army or the Brockville Food Bank will be gratefully acknowledged.
