Kathleen Mary Lefave Obituary

Katie Lefave of Brockville passed away at Brockville General Hospital Garden Street Site in The Palliative Care Unit on Saturday March 2nd 2019 at the age of 95. She was the oldest living graduate Registered Nurse from Saint Vincent de Paul Hospital (1946). Katie was predeceased by her loving husband, Francis Alexander Lefave. She was a loving mother to Donna Frew and her husband Alex of Deep River, Christine Marsala and her husband Jack of Ottawa and Stephen and his wife Debbie of Brockville. Loving grandmother to Katrina, Seamus, Serena, Julie, Brendan, Charlie, Brittany and Brianne. Proud loving great grandmother of Cohen, Hannah, Violet, Smith, Kylie, Madison, Levi and Everett.

Katie was all of our joy and inspiration; a wise and loving presence in our family. Often referred to as “Katiebird”, she will always be remembered in the kitchen preparing family meals and baking her famous pies, in her flower gardens, and writing thank you notes and letters. Katie loved swimming, playing cards, travelling and her wonderful collection of hats, but most of all her love was expressed for God and her family. She will be sadly missed by her parish at Saint Francis Xavier and her loved ones.

Family will receive relatives and friends at The Irvine Funeral Home, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Friday May 17th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Francis Xavier Church, 66 Church Street, Brockville on Saturday May 18th at 10am, with interment to follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Katie’s memory to the Brockville and District Hospital Foundation, Palliative Care Unit. The family would like to thank the Emergency Department and the doctors and nurses at the Brockville General Hospital and at the Palliative Care Unit for the wonderful care provided to Katie.
