<p>Mathew Walter Carroll, at the age of 18 of Brockville, Ontario passed away January 24th, 2017 surrounded by family and the caring staff of Brockville General Hospital I.C.U. Mathew was proudly pursuing his apprenticeship at Tait's Fresh Start Bakery in Brockville. He was a graduate of St. Mary Catholic High School and Meadowview Public School. </p><p><br></p><p>Mathew is survived by his much loved, older brother William (Andrew) of Kingston and his loving parents Sean (Dad), Michelle (Stepmom), Denise (Mom) and Ray Bergeron (Stepdad) of Brockville. He will be dearly missed by his grandparents Mildred and Walter Johnson of Ancaster, Bill and Margaret Carroll of Hamilton and Faye Cunningham of Maitland. Mathew is pre-deceased by his Granny Marian (Sicurella) Carroll (2005) of Grimsby. He is fondly remembered by many aunts, uncles and cousins, especially Amanda and Alex Woolley of Beamsville, as well as his Brockville Braves Billet Brothers.</p><p><br></p><p>As described by Seb Gingras (Brockville Braves Billet Brother), "Mathew was a shining star in a world where everyone could use a little light. His love of life and his warm personality instantly touched everyone that came into contact with him. He was a contagious kid, the kind of contagion that changes the life of others". Even now, Mathew continues to change the lives of others through his gift of organs to the Trillium Gift of Life Network. </p><p><br></p><p>Mathew our son, our brother, our family, our friend; we are so proud of you and the full life you lived in the time you had with us. We are all richer for having shared your life! </p><p><br></p><p>Arrangements are entrusted with the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street E., Brockville, ON. (613-342-2828). We will hold a short church service for those who wish to attend, at St. John Bosco Catholic Church; 175 Windsor Drive, Brockville, ON at 11am on Saturday February 4th. </p><p><br></p><p>We will be hosting a drop-in Celebration of Life, In honour of Mathew on Saturday February 4th from 1230-5pm at Brimstone's; 15 Broad Street, Brockville, ON. This is a casual event, please come as you are and remember Mathew with us. Parking available in the city lot adjacent to Buds on the Bay.
