Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Moria Irene Proctor (nee Gilfedder) on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at St. Lawrence Lodge, Brockville ON. Surrounded by family, our mother slipped away peacefully after a short battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her husband and childhood sweetheart Douglas Proctor and infant daughter Jaime, by her brother Patrick Kilfeather and sister Sheila Vinet. Much loved mother to Jo-Ann, Jill (Chris Cuggy) and Marylou (Roger Fraser). Survived by her sister Edith Gamble of Picton. Loving grandmother to Caitlin and Erin Cuggy, and George and Maris Fraser. Fondly remembered by extended family on both the Proctor and Gilfedder sides. Moira was born in Verdun, Quebec to Mary (McGinn) and Thaddeus Gilfedder on March 27, 1930. She resided in Verdun, Otterburn Park, St. Lambert, Beaconsfield QC, Ottawa ON, Venice and Sarasota FL, and Brockville ON. Mom and Dad met in Otterburn Park as teens, married September 6, 1952 and had a wonderful life together. They started their own business, Prolew Quebec Ltd. and traveled extensively. Moira was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing bridge. She did volunteer work for the VON in Ste Anne de Bellevue, the various schools we attended and the Maycourt Club of Brockville. Mom's joy in life was her family. We will all miss her deeply.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr Mansworth and the staff at St Lawrence Lodge for their loving care while she resided with them and of course for helping her through the last days of her journey home. You know who you are and we thank you for caring.
Visitation will take place at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Saturday, October 13 from 1pm until 2pm when funeral services will be held in the Chapel. A reception will follow in the Irvine Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Society of Leeds and Grenville (please specify respite or activity programs) or the Canadian Cancer Society.
