Muriel Blanche Johnson Obituary

Muriel B. Johnson (née Black) passed away on July 25, 2018, at the Brockville General Hospital (Garden St.) after an heroic battle with COPD. She leaves behind her devoted and loving husband of 66 years, Walter H. Johnson (retired Bell Canada).

Muriel was born on December 8, 1929, in Colquhoun, Dundas County, the middle child of Charles and Beatrice (Durant) Black. On July 16, 1952, Muriel married Walter Johnson (of Toyes Hill) at the United Church in Morrisburg, ON. During her lifetime, she also resided in Chesterville, Morrisburg, Winchester, Smiths Falls, as well as at the beloved family cottage on Adams Lake.

Muriel was the cherished mother of Kathryn Ann (Pierre Joly) of Dunrobin, ON, the treasured grandmother of Andre Joly and the doting great-grandmother of Isabelle and Katie Joly. She is survived by brother, Ralph Black, formerly of Morrisburg, many cousins, as well as nine nieces and nephews. Special friend of Pauline Robertson and (the late) Al and Heather Hay.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Lois (Paul Osler) and sisters- and brothers-in-law, Lorna (Lloyd Dixon) and Beatrice (George Elliott), Jean (Carruthers) Black, as well as her in-laws, Elzie and Irma (McIntosh) Johnson.

We would like to express our appreciation and gratitude to the many friends and neighbours who supported Muriel and our family during this difficult journey.

Many thanks to the staff of the two Brockville hospitals for their excellent and empathetic care.

Donations to the Brockville and District Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at a later date at the Johnson family plot at Maple Ridge Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James St., E., Brockville, ON. Condolences and donations may be left online at www.irvinememorial.com.
