Myrtle Hallett Obituary

Passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 23rd at St. Lawrence Lodge, Brockville, at the age of 81 years. She had been a resident at the Lodge since 2005. Myrtle resided in Brockville for all of her adult life. She was pre-deceased by all of her immediate family including her mother, sister, and brother who lived in Calgary, Alberta. She will be remembered by many in Brockville for her resilience (having survived several hit-and-run accidents) and for her great determination to be independent. She was a familiar figure to all on King Street where she lived for so many years. She had a great zest for life. Many local businesses knew her and helped her in so many ways. Special thanks go to the staff at St. Lawrence Lodge and to Dr. Wagg. Very special thanks to Jill Yeatman, and to others at Developmental Services of Leeds & Grenville. Thanks also to everyone at the Brockville Friendship Centre where she was a member for so many years and where she was given opportunities to go camping, swimming, bus trips etc. etc. Myrtle especially loved the St. Lawrence River and she took every opportunity to be in it, or on it. When she was living independently, she would take Captain Andy’s boat tour at least once a week, weather permitting, or not. She also loved to swim and was fearless from the minute she jumped into the water. A private service and interment will take place in Calgary, Alberta. Sentiments can be sent c/o Irvine Funeral Home and will be passed on to her family in Calgary. For those who knew Myrtle, please observe a moment of silence in remembrance of her. (Submitted by her friend Dixie)
