Passed away at her home on Friday, June 15, 2012 at the age of 86 years. Beloved wife of the late Kenneth Newton and dear mother of John Newton (Claire). Cherished grandmother of Tina (Dave), Wayne, Melissa and Morgan and great grandmother to Ava, Myla and Falwyn. Also survived by her sisters-in-law Mary and Millie; her former daughter-in-law Linda; and by nieces and nephews Richard (Mabel), Tammy, Cindy, Ronnie and Glen. Predeceased by her parents Ethel and Belfort Astles; her daughter Judy Newton; brothers Herman, Lester and Vibert and by her sister Elva. A service in honour and celebration of Opal's life will take place on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 1 pm in the Irvine Funeral Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville. Cremation has taken place at the Roselawn Crematorium, Maitland with interment in Gaspe at a later date.
