On Sunday, May 15, 2011 at the Rosebridge Manor, Eastons Corners; the former Roberta Lackie at the age of 93 years. Beloved wife of the late Frederick James Purdy and the late Melvin Arthur Weir. Loving mother of Ruth (Betty) Jackson, Winston Purdy (Marion) and Ronda Ferguson. Fondly remembered by 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. Dear sister of Helen Smith, Greta Hoy and Jean Smith. Predeceased by a son Ronald Alvin Purdy, a granddaughter Heather McMillan and by siblings Shirley Earl, Eldon Lackie, Irene Scott, Marion Baker, Dorthy Lackie and Lorne Lackie. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Wednesday, May 18th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A ceremony in celebration of Roberta's life will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, May 19th at 11:00 a.m. The service of committal and interment will take place at Bishop's Mills Cemetery followed by a reception in the United Church Hall, Bishop's Mills. In remembrance, donations to St. John's United Church, Brockville, the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged.
