Retired from The City of Brockville (35 years of service) and former caretaker of Maynard Cemetery.

It is with great sadness, after a courageous battle with cancer, that we announce the passing of a great man, Vernon Irish, affectionately know by many as "Bernie". Vern was lifted up by the Lord's hand on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at the age of 81. Vern leaves behind his wife and best friend of 41 years, Sheila (Crichley) Irish and his brothers and sisters Harry Irish (Irma), Connie Place (Raymond - predeceased), Raymond Irish (Carol), Nellie Jackson (Robert), Fred Irish (Marilyn), Ralph Irish (Donna) and Mary Madden (Bruce). He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Reta Irish and by a sister Noreen. Always remembered by nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Irvine Funeral Home, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A ceremony celebrating Vernon's life will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 11 am with interment to follow at Greenbank Cemetery, Rocksprings. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Christ United Church. Lyn or the Canadian Cancer Society will be gratefully acknowledged.
