William (Bill) Church Obituary

Church, William (Bill)

A long time local business owner, John William (Bill) Church, much loved husband of Wendy (nee Munro) for 47 years, passed away on July 30, 2016 at the Brockville General Hospital Charles St. site with family close beside him. Bill was born in Vancouver in 1941, then moved with his family to Montreal before coming to Brockville. He met and married Wendy and together they opened a clothing store for women, called Harringays, which operated successfully for 40 years on King Street. Both the Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Business Association benefited from Bill's expertise. For many years a member of the Kiwanis Club and the BYC. He was a friendly and well known figure in Brockville's downtown.

Always putting his family first, Bill spent his leisure time with them on the St. Lawrence River and in North Carolina. He was the son the late John and Mary Church. He is survived by one sister Flora Stewart (David) in Rhode Island, also by his two sons Bailey (Claire) of Ottawa and their three children Sebastien, Amandine and Dominique and Brodie (Stacey) and their children Georgia and Colton of Brockville. His sons were the world to Bill and his grandchildren a constant joy.

As the family wished, a private cremation has taken place at the Roselawn Crematorium, Maitland. Interment will take place in their family lot in Fayetteville, N.C. at a later date.
