Evelyn Gilpin Burford, Ontario Obituary

Evelyn Gilpin

Passed away at her home on Thursday December 5, 2019 in her 95th year. Cherished Mother of Donna Thompson (Rob), Robert (Bob) Gilpin (Renate), and Mary Compeau (David). Lovingly remembered by grandchildren: Dawn Clarke (Guy), Dean Walsh (Rachel), Wendy Davis (Jerry), Greg Walsh (Diane), Jonathan Walsh (Sue), Meghan Moore (Patrick), Jason Fletcher (Alisha), Kelly Snyder (Derek), Tanya Harewood (Phil), Carrie Gilpin, Daryl Fletcher, Paula Burns (Greg) and Tracy Whyte (Ray). Proud Grandma of numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her beloved husband John (Jack) Gilpin, daughter Irene Walsh, son-in-law Rob Thompson, parents William & Maude Sevier and brothers Charles and Arthur Sevier. Evelyn enjoyed a long life filled with many friends and family who lovingly referred to her as “Hazel”. She cherished spending time with all her grandchildren and liked to keep up with the younger generation. Hazel liked to keep her hands and mind busy solving word search puzzles, piecing together complicated jigsaw puzzles, and completing numerous craft and crocheting projects which she shared with her many loved ones. She had a huge, soft heart, always wanting everyone in her life to know how much she loved them. We would like to extend special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Woodstock General Hospital whose excellent and compassionate care made her recent stay a very memorable one. Friends will be received at the Keith Ovington Funeral Home, 134 King Street, Burford on Monday December 9, 2019 from 1-2 p.m. followed by a funeral service to be held in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations in Evelyn’s memory may be made to the Woodstock Hospital Foundation (Palliative Care) or Autism Ontario.
