EVANS, Clifford Russel born June 23, 1937 in Guelph Ontario and passed away suddenly on February 14, 2018.
Cliff was in his 81st year and is survived by his beloved wife Debra and sons Russel, John (and wife Tracey Henry), Steve and Jack (and his partner Charmaine Napier). He is also survived by his sister in law Dot Flannigan, his sister and brother in laws Tammie and Tom Dunnett, Trudy and Paul Laxdal and mother in law June Young.
Cliff dedicated himself to improving the lives of working people. He was a passionate and tireless advocate and worked his way up from the shop floor to become the Canadian Director and International Vice President of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union. He was a visionary and a pioneer in the labour movement in Canada. Cliff was admitted to the Order of Ontario in 1996 in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the labour movement in Ontario.
In his leisure, Cliff enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends, and playing golf.
Cliff will be dearly missed by his family and those who knew him. He always put the interests of others ahead of his own.
A private service for immediate family to be held in the near future. A celebration of life event will follow later in the spring. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Lounsbury Funeral Home, Cambridge.
