Mr. Bernard Spence

Passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 18th, 2011 at the Timmins and District Hospital. Beloved husband of Mary (nee Donchuk), dear father of daughter Lee-Ann (Thomas Gant) of Timmins. Special “Grandpa Polk” to Courtney and Carter. He is also survived by his brothers Edward of Montreal , Clifford of Iroquois Falls and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Bernard and Freda, his brothers George and Morris, and his sisters Evelyn, Jean, and Edith.
Bernard “Barney” Spence was born and raised in Ansonville but worked a variety of jobs in southern Ontario before returning to the North in 1966 where started work as a welder at the newly-opened Texas Gulf Mine. He retired from there in 1986 and went on to enjoy many years of retirement by travelling, golfing, curling and having a wonderful time with his two grandchildren. He will be missed very much.
A private family service was held on August 19th, 2011. Remembrance donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association are welcome
