Peacefully on Sunday May 26, 2013 at the La Verendrye Hospital, Fort Frances, Ont, Bud Erickson of Fort Frances passed away at the age of 87. Bud was born on March 26, 1926 in Fort Frances, Ont to John and Ada Erickson. He was united in marriage to Berdell Collett on June 24, 1948. They resided in Fort Frances their entire lives. Bud worked for the Fort Frances paper mill for many years working in numerous capacities till retirement as an Industrial Millwright in 1988. Bud had a great passion for the water and loved spending time on Rainy Lake with family and friends at the cabin. He enjoyed taking in a Lakers game, coffee with the guys at McDonalds or A&W or fixing things in his garage. He loved getting pictures and videos of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bumpa's fridge was always covered with pictures. He will be greatly missed by his children Susan (Frank) Taylor, Shelley (Lyle) Hyatt, Sharleane Erickson (Bob Paterson) and Sandy Erickson (Irv Dyck), his grandchildren Jessica (Dion) Desjarlais, Luc (Emiko) Hyatt, Corey Erickson Dyck, his great grandchildren Justin, Daylan and Eden Desjarlais, and Yukiko, William and Jesse Ikari-Hyatt, his step grandchildren Clinton (Helen ) Taylor, Justin (Julie) Taylor, step great grandchildren Alyssa, Madeline, Rachel, Isabelle, and Georgeson Taylor. Bud is also survived by his brothers-in-law Gerry (Bev) Collett, Peter Warkentin, sisters-in-law Verna Erickson, and Marg Erickson and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents John and Ada, his wife Berdell, his brothers Edwin, Gordon, Vernon, and brother-in-law Bill Collett, and sisters-in-law Bernice Warkentin and Leona Erickson, and son-in-law Wayne Bourassa. As per Bud’s wishes there will be no funeral.
