Charles Conacher Harrison Obituary

Sadly, the family announces the passing of Charles Harrison, 83, a former longtime resident of Barwick, Ont., on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at his residence in Fort Frances, Ont. Chuck was born on Sept. 4, 1934 in Rossburn, Man. to Irwin and Blanche Harrison. Chuck was passionate about watching sports, often challenging other sports enthusiasts to a small wager just for fun. He also loved to play cards, listen to classic country and western music, test his luck at casinos, and spend time with friends and family. He often could be found with a book in his hands—always a western pocketbook. His favourite saying was “What will be will be.” He loved his life and the people who were a part of it. Chuck was known for his teasing and his contagious laughter, which will be greatly missed. Up until his retirement, Chuck was employed by the Municipality of Chapple for more than 30 years, where he did everything from dog censuses to cemetery caretaker. Chuck is survived by his children, Sherry Watson (Dale) and Bruce Harrison (Karen); children from his first marriage, Charlene Loach, Melanie Chapple, and Lori Kornyk; his longtime partner, Cynthia Cave; his grandchildren, Amelia Harrison, Matthew Youmans, Jennifer Diaczun, and Jolene (Daniel) Casanova; and great-grandchildren, Sammy and Ember. He also is survived by his siblings, Bob (Cecille) Harrison, Harvey Harrison, Marie Neff, Betty Wanhella, and Carol (Rob) Clements; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Chuck was predeceased by his parents, Irwin and Blanche; and siblings, Billy Harrison, Lionel Harrison, Donna Greenshield, Shirley Dillman, and Barb Duff. A service of celebration and remembrance will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Barwick Hall, with Pastor Ken Johnson officiating. Interment will take place in Barwick Cemetery following the service. If friends so desire, in memoriam donations may be made to the Fort Frances Senior Centre (Sister Kennedy) c/o Northridge Funeral Home, P.O. Box 89, Emo, Ont., P0W 1E0
