Christopher Roy Galusha Obituary

Christopher Roy Galusha (Chris) was born in Fort Frances Ontario on July 16, 1950. Chris passed away with his family by his side on Sunday February 17, 2019, at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital. Chris’s passing was unexpected. In his growing up years Chris was raised on the farm north of Barwick, by his parents Roy and Joyce Galusha along with his two brothers and three sisters. Chris attended Barwick public school and then went on the Fort Frances High School. Through the years, Chris continued helping on the farm and cutting wood working with his father. When High School graduation was upon him, Chris was not sure what path to follow, so he filled out an application for the Mill and was hired. He then met the love of his life, Pat Beaulne, and they were married on April 24, 1971. Over the years two natural born sons arrived and a chosen daughter. Chris was involved in all aspects of their lives. He totally loved his children. He often took them hunting for golf balls at 5 in the morning, Chris right along with them in the ditches of water, searching for balls. Chris was by their side for all sporting events be it soccer, running or football. Family and family activities were very important to Chris. Chris loved camping, fishing, hunting, gardening, cooking and baking and also sewing. Chris would sit patiently and sew all the ripped pants. You could be sure your pants may be blue but you could have pink, red or yellow thread down the front when he was done. The color didn’t matter to Chris. Everyone that needed a hem could count on and be prepared for Flood Pants! Chris was “quite the cook” also. He liked to ensure the family was well fed while not wasting a bit of food. Everyone was fed but ground up liver burgers did not go over well! Love and marriage then came to Chris and Pat’s sons. God blessed the two of them with four beautiful grandchildren. From that moment on Chris’s whole life became trying to be there for any of their needs or wants. All four of them would always say “poppa….you are the best” And….He was the best! Chris retired from the Mill at the age of 58 after working as a painter in the mill for 39 years. It was his time to just live life. Chris has loved and been loved. Chris will be lovingly remembered by his wife Pat, his children Darryl (Leah) , Nathan (Wednesday), and Denise (Fern); grandchildren Socorro, Callum, Griffin and Isabella. Also by his mother Joyce, Siblings Kathy (daughter Tara), Peggy (Ken), Jim (Wendy), Ruth (Barry), Bill (Brenda) and Pat’s family whom he loved like siblings, Terry (Debbie), Lonnie, Debbie(Fernando), Hope (Aaron), Stewart (Donna), Brian (Tracey) and Ian. Also left to mourn Chris’s passing are many nephews and nieces, along with great nephews and nieces. Chris was predeceased by his father Roy Galusha, two infant sons and his Mother in Law Isabel Stanley. A Celebration of Chris’s life will be held at the Barwick Hall on March the 2nd, 2019 at 1 PM.
