Doris Kate McCready Obituary

Peacefully with her family by her side on Friday June 13, 2014 at the Rainy Crest Long Term Care, Fort Frances, Ont, Doris McCready passed away at the age of 95. Doris was born in Alysworth Twp, Ont on April 17, 1919 to Otto and Annie Herrmann. She was united in marriage to William McCready on Feb 2, 1946. Doris and Bill lived south of Emo for 19 years before relocating to Nestor Falls where they remained for over 26 years, and then returned to the Devlin and Emo areas. Doris worked as a hairdresser all her life, starting in select shops in Fort Frances during the war years, working independently in the Emo area, then operating her own beauty salon in Nestor Falls and having a home based shop in Devlin. She had a great love for gardening, sewing and cooking. Doris was a valued member of the UCW Ladies Auxiliary and the Emo Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by her children Carole (Gary) Beauchene of Dryden, Keith (Faye) McCready of Dryden, Lois (Larry) Stoltz of International Falls, MN, Shirley (Larry) Glueheisen of Devlin, Ont; her grandchildren Christi Hulsman, Pamela Marion, Susan Moody, Don McCready, Katherine Brandt, David Rogoza, Jennifer Soderholm and Jonathan Glueheisen; great grandchildren Thomas Hulsman, Abigail, Racheal, and Joshua Marion, Benjamin and William Moody, Alyssa and Reed McCready, Brody and Jude Brandt, Brooke and Mitchel Rogoza, McKenna and Madison Soderholm, Riley and Tanner Glueheisen; and in laws Betty Herman of Fort Frances, Dorothy McCready of Fort Gratiot, Michigan, Jean Morrow of Sarnia, Ont, Agnes and Max Heath of Wallaceburg, Ont, and Norm and Ruth McCready of Brantford, Ont and many nieces and nephews. Doris was predeceased by her parents Otto and Annie, her husband Bill, son Lynn, granddaughter Jo-Anna Granholm, brother Ray Herman, and sisters Gladys (Cliff) McConnell, Beatrice (Bob) McConnell, in-laws Kathleen McCready, George Morrow, Ruth and Orton Pretty, Don McCready. Funeral service will be held on Thursday June 19, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. from the Emo Knox United Church, with Rev. Frances Flook officiating. Visitation one hour prior to service. Interment will take place in Emo Cemetery. Pall Bearers were Alfred Redford, Ron Redford, Greg Herrmann, Brad Herman, Larry Jack, and Mel Jack.
