Frank Thomas Advent Obituary

Frank Thomas Advent It is with sadness that the family of Frank Thomas Advent announces his sudden passing on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Riverside Health Centre Hospital in Rainy River, Ontario. Frank was born July 15, 1943 in Emo, Ontario to Kathleen and Joseph Advent. He spent his childhood attending Pattullo #8 school North of Stratton and helping his Dad on the farm he grew up on. As a young man Frank went west and worked on a farm where he obtained his driver’s license. Then Frank travelled to Eastern Ontario working for Pat McNaulty Construction Company. When Frank returned to the Rainy River District he became a logger working for Domtar, Chris Loveday and Jamie Hartnell. He worked for a number of years with his brother Gary in the bush. He also was a labourer for George Armstrong on the Nickel Lake Road project. He also worked with Brother Ross on a Hydro project in British Columbia. Most recently Frank worked for his brother Clarence as a town garbage collector until age 65. Frank loved fishing and gardening and could regale you for hours on how to grow and get the best crops. While he resided at the Riverview Manor he created and kept a garden where family members were welcome to help themselves…walk carefully! He also loved animals and always had a cat for a companion. Though Frank had a great sense of humour when it came to Bob Brown’s jokes and stories, he will be remembered as a soft spoken, quiet and private man. He leaves behind his Mother; Kathleen Advent age 91, his Siblings; Robert (Sylvia) Advent, Gary (Caroline) Advent, Karen Advent, Ross (Monika) Advent, Joanne (Yvon) LaMontagne, Clarence (Rose) Advent, Marilyn (Bernie) Jenson, Grace Advent, Patty (Robert) Desrosier, Laura Advent and Errol (Rebecca) Advent. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews as well as Aunts, Uncles and cousins. He will be missed by all. Frank was predeceased by his Dad, Joseph Victor Advent in 1989 and by Brother Gary’s son Craig Michael in 1995. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held Friday October 2, 2015 at 1:00pm at the Stratton Cemetery. Friends and Family are invited to attend. If desired memorial donation may be made to the Rainy River Hospital, c/o Northridge Funeral Home, Box 89, Emo, Ontario, P0W 1E0. Online condolences may be offered at www.northridgefuneralhome.com
