Gail Shields Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Gail Isabel Janice Shields announces her passing on Sunday, April 10, 2016 surrounded by her loving husband and heartbroken boys. Gail was the daughter of Paul and Margaret Kielczewski, born on July 3, 1946. She was number five on the team of 12. On Oct. 6, 1974, she married the love of her life, William Shields, and had a wonderful life with their two boys, Robert and Tod. In the early years, Gail and Bill entertained their family and friends at Wick Cliff Lodge on Wickens Lake, where they met friend for life, Tommy Walker. They lived in Dryden, Ont. for a short period of time before they moved back to Fort Frances, Ont., making it their final home where at anytime friends could stop by her spotless house and eat off the floor if they chose to. For the last 21 years, Gail was employed at La Verendrye Hospital, working in the laundry and dietary departments. Gail’s boys, Robert and Tod, kept her on her toes and her heart full. They made life better when they produced six grandkids and she was blessed to meet her four great-grandchildren. Gail is survived by her husband of 37 years, Bill and their two boys, Robert and Tod (June). Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, Joshua (Alycia), Nicolas (Jessica), Allison (Tristyn), Alysha, Jayda, Asyia, and Isabel, along with her four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Abbigail, Pheonix, and Zaila. Also left to mourn this amazing lady were her siblings, Pat Dunahee (Vera), Keith Dunahee, Bo Kielczewski, Deeder Kielczewski, Shawn Kielczewski, and Bonnie Limoges (Bernie). Gail also will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews. Gail had a full heart with her bigger-than-life family but made room for a few more special ladies, Veryl, Ket, Evelyn, Nicole, and her gang at the hospital. Gail was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Margaret Kielczewski; and siblings, Kevin, Barb, Leon, Harvey, and Laurie. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations can be made to the Riverside Foundation for Health Care. Online condolences may be offered at www.northridgefuneralhome.com
