Joan Ruth (Teddy) Bone of Burris Ontario passed away on March 14 / 2015 at Riverside . She was born Oct 3/ 1924 in Edmonton Alberta. Daughter of William and Elizabeth Howey, only daughter of four children. She attended school in Edmonton but was forced to drop out and work to help raise her two surviving brothers after her the early death of her mother and after her older brother's plane was shot down overseas. She was married to Larry Bone in Edmonton and widowed in 1965 at Fort Frances. She was predeceased by her parents, brother William Howey, brother Doug Howey, infant son Ronald and husband Larry She is survived by brother Jack Howey, daughters Kathy Sadergaski, Elaine Aveyard(Glen) and son Bill(Nancy). Grand children Shelly (Carey), Larry(Michelle),Tawnya(Joe), Christie(Al), Kevin(Toey), Jonathan, Danny(Lindsey), Keith(Tabotha) and Jennifer(Don) great grand children Carter, Jaymee, Emma, Abbey, Austen, Casche, Carson , Emily, Madison, Kayle and Brooklyn. As well as her “adopted daughter” Judy After the death of her husband she raised her three children on her own. Working at Lakehead Freightways, P and B Cartage, Superior Propane, lands and forests(MNR) and dispatcher for OPP until her retirement at 62. As well as carrying on an active social life. In her youth she was a competitive speed skater, and her baseball team made it to the provincial championships. She was a certified life guard. An accomplished bowler with many trophies and represented Fort Frances leagues in many tournaments across Canada. She was a gifted painter and photographer, winning many contests, later taking up wood carving. These and other activities garnered her a wealth of friends from all over the continent. Never without pets, she raised canaries and white mice, goldfish kept in a beautiful pond and rock garden she built herself. Never without at least one dog by her side and even cats later on that she adopted all of them living long under her loving care. Her greatest love was her horses, having her own and riding others on pack trips that covered over a thousand miles of the Colorado rocky wilderness.at the age of seventy she fulfilled her dream of having a paso fino. A breed known for it's smooth ride. Bribon carried her safely for over twenty years until she was in her eighties. They are together again, happy trails mom A celebration of Teddy’s life will be held on Saturday March 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. from the Devlin Community Hall. Interment will take place at a later date.
