John Rempel Obituary

John P. Rempel “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 It is with great sorrow that the family of John P. Rempel announces his peaceful passing after a courageous battle with cancer. He was received into glory on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at the age of 64 with his wife and children by his side in the comfort of his home in Stratton, ON. John was born on January 3, 1954 to the late Cornelius and Eva Rempel, in Chihuahua, Mexico. He immigrated to Stratton, Ontario, Canada in 1972 with his family. He was baptized upon the confession of his faith in Christ in his late teen years and became an active member of the Christian Fellowship Chapel of Stratton, ON where he served faithfully through the years as a Youth Leader, Sunday School teacher and Deacon. His life was marked by faithfulness to God, his wife and family. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Sara Thiessen on June 14, 1975. This union of 43 years was blessed with three children, Laura, Steven and Sabrina. John’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to open Great West Service & Repair LTD. in 1986 in Stratton, ON. His dedicated and exemplary service resulted in loyal customers, many of whom became good friends. He was known for his dry humour, honesty, and ambition. As a result of his generous and self-giving nature he was loved and respected by many. His quiet and unassuming influence will forever be remembered and missed in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Eva Rempel and his brother Dave Rempel. His faithful legacy will forever be cherished in the lives of his wife, Sara Rempel of Stratton, ON, his children, Laura Rempel of Okotoks, AB, Steven Rempel of Stratton, ON, Sabrina Rempel of Okotoks, AB, his sister Netja (Cornelius) Wiebe of Mexico, brother Neil (Helen) Rempel of Aylmer, ON, sister Eva (Klaas) Wall of Steinbach, MB, sister Elena (Ken) Wiebe of Kleefeld, MB, sister Justina (Phil) Friesen of Emo, ON, sister Marie (Charlie) Morken of Stratton, ON, sister Tina (George) Friesen of Fort Frances, ON, sister-in-law Margaret Rempel of Steinbach, MB, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
