Kate Bragg With her family by her side, Kate Bragg peacefully passed away April 2, 2017. Kate was born November 16, 1921 in Edmonton, AB to the late Emmy Jane (Robins) and Elijah Rumley. She lived in Alberta until she was 17. She then moved to Northwestern Ontario with her mom after her dad passed away. Here in NWO she met her true love, Leo Bragg and they were united in marriage on August 27th, 1942 at the International Falls border. They renewed their vows 20 years later at Leo’s bedside on August 15th, 1962 by Father Louie O’Bain just before Leo passed away. Kate spent most her career as a cook. She worked cooking for various tourist camps, the military and at the Off Lake Inn with her daughter. Her family loved her pumpkin cookies, Swedish meatballs, homemade carrot cake and her fi ne pies – especially her lemon meringue. She loved spending time with her family and friends and always made a point of staying in touch and visiting everyone. She love all animals, most particularly horses. She also spent her free time gardening and woodworking. Kate loved music and to play various instruments. Her favorite song was “Oh Danny Boy” and she requested it every time she had a chance. Those who knew Kate knew her favorite pastime of all was to go gambling. Her favorite was Bingo but more specifically the slots. She always loved telling the stories of the times she won the big one. She was predeceased by her husband Leo, her son Bentley, her sisters Clara, Isabelle and brothers Bill, Tom, Jim & Norm. She is lovingly survived by her son Raymond (Evelyn) Bragg of LaVallee, ON, daughter Evelyn (Ralph) Garand of Hope, BC. Her grandchildren, Sue (Mark Nagant) Fletcher, Darren (Denise) Bragg, Janet (Jason) Kuiack, Linc (Debbie) Garand, Randy (Phyllis) Garand, Kelly (Ian Harman) Garand, Sheila Garand, Khrysti (Ray) Bousfield & Steven Bragg. Her great grandchildren, Melissa, Caitlin, Corburn, Hailey Payton, Jasmine, Jarrod, Janelle, Ryan, Phillip, Dillon, Cassandra, Michael, Austin, Draydon, Jordan, Landon, Bentley, Harley, Wyley & Melani. Along with numerous nieces & nephews. Kate was a special lady that touched the hearts of many. She loved her time living in the country and all of the friends she made over the years. She will be missed by so many. By the family’s request, there will be no funeral service and private family graveside ceremonies will take place sometime in the summer of 2017. Her wish was to be laid to rest with her mom, husband and son. Often you would worry over the past years and saying that you didn’t want to be a bother to me, that you didn’t want to burden me with your care.Grandma, you were never my burden – you were always my gift. I will love you for always and I will miss you forever. I never have to worry because I know you’re my angel. Until we meet again my dear friend. I love you xoxoxoxoxo Susy – aka - pooh
