Lena Didychuk Burghardt Obituary

With great sadness the family of Lena (Baba) Burghardt passed away peacefully with her family by her side, February 3rd, 2010 at Rainycrest Longterm Care Facility at the age of 83 years. She was born Nov. 2, 1926 in Rorkton, MB. Lena’s (Baba) greatest joy in life was her children , grandchildren and great grandchildren. They are all very special to her heart. She was involved in various volunteer work such as Legion Ladies Auxiliary and doing hair for CCU residents at the hospital. She was famous for her perogies and cabbage rolls and always donated to bake sales in the community. Baba made sure everyone had enough to eat and more. Her favourite pastimes were playing bingo, cards with her famiy and gambling trips with her daughters and son-in-laws. She was a faithful hockey fan, watching her grandsons play hockey. Humour was her trait. She always enjoyed a good joke and could tell them just as good as anyone. Predeceased by her parents, husband Mike in 2001, daughter Judy, son-in-law Victor Ryznar in 1977, son Brian in 1956, as well as her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children Betty (Garry) McInnes, Marathon, ON, Beverley (Grant) Kristoff, Balmertown, ON, Rob (Tammy) Burghardt, Fort Frances, Brent Burghardt, Fort Frances, Brenda (Paul) Soucy, Lavallee, ON, Trevor Ryznar, Fort Frances, ON, Todd Ryznar, Atikokan, ON, and Glenn Ryznar of B.C. as well as her 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, and her brother Matt and her sisters Mary, Pearl and Elsie who loved her dearly. Lena’s (Baba’s) house was full of love and laughter and everyone was always welcome. She was a woman of great strength and had a heart full of love. We will miss her terribly. BABA you are at peace and forever and always in our hearts. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 6th, 2010 at 2 pm at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Fort Frances, ON. Not ready to leave, but had to go

Wanted to stay, but God said no

An angel is what she will always be

Now think of all that she can see

Watching over us night and day

Saying I love you in her own special way

In the night we sleep and in the day we cry

While she watches us all from the stars in the sky.
