Margaret Grace Rahn Obituary

Margaret Grace Rahn (nee Canfield) 1920 - 2017 Margaret passed away at home with her family, on January 6 2017 in Nanaimo BC. Margaret was born on the family farm north of Barwick Ontario, to pioneering homesteaders, Jennie and Willard Canfield on August 21, 1920. She lived most of her 96 years on the same land where she was born, then moved to Fort Frances and finally to Nanaimo to become a “BC Nut"! Margaret was married to Jack Rahn on Oct. 1, 1941 in Truro, Nova Scotia where he was stationed during WWII. They had two children, Lyndawn and Peggyann. After the war, Margaret and Jack worked hard to build and maintain the “Spruce Shadow Farm”. They were strong believers in community; Teaching 4-H, owning and operating the Blackhawk Hall, and were avid square dancers. Margret continued to enjoy dancing well into her nineties. She was also a lifetime member of the Woman’s Institute. Margaret was an enthusiastic and energetic person, always busy helping others, attending meetings and visiting family and friends. She loved to travel, to see new sights and to connect with others. She will be remembered as someone who loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was dedicated to always make every effort to keep in touch with the many people she knew and connected with. Margaret's Amway business provided her opportunities to travel, develop lasting friendships and show her dedication to what she believed in.
