Nancy (Shantz) Martin of Stratton, ON, passed away peacefully at home, to her heavenly reward on June 2, 2015, at the age of 78 years, 10 months and 9 days, after a short battle with cancer. She was born on July 24, 1936, in Lexington, ON, to Levi and Melinda Shantz. She gave her heart to the Lord in her youth and was a faithful member of the Pineview Mennonite Church, Barwick, ON, at the time of her death. On May 23, 1956, she was united in marriage to Walter M. Martin. They enjoyed just over 59 years together. She will be greatly missed by her beloved husband, Walter, of Stratton, ON and 15 children: Jane Krahn, Stratton, ON; Carl (Nancy), Stratton, ON; Gary (Faith), Danskin, BC; Lyle (Rebecca), Browerville, MN; Timothy (Donna), Stratton, ON; Judy (Glenn) Heatwole, Hitchins, KY; Dennis (Carolyn), Harriston, ON; Steven (Nettie), Vienna, ON; James (Sharilyn), Cove, OR; Kevin (Joanna), Stratton, ON; Daniel (Loretta), Danskin, BC; Sharon (Darrell) Martin, Mine Centre, ON; Eunice (Murray) Martin, Madoc, ON; Arlene (Jonathan) Metzler, Austin, MB; Rhoda (Daryl) Meck, Stratton, ON, 120 grandchildren and 83 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Urias (Martha) Shantz, one sister Annie Gingrich, and 3 sisters-in-law Almeda, Edith, and Anne. She was preceded in death by her parents, and 4 brothers: Melvin (Alice), Noah, Orvie, and Aden, one brother-in-law, Abner Gingrich, one son-in-law Ben Krahn, 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. The funeral service is planned for June 6, 2015, 1:00 PM at the Barwick Hall, with interment at the Pineview Cemetery. The family wishes to thank each one who has shown care and support in this difficult experience.
