Robert “Bob” Dwight Johnston Sadly the family announces the passing of Robert “Bob” Dwight Johnston on Friday May 11, 2018 at the Rainy River Hospital. Bob was born January 26, 1941, attended school, and worked in Thunder Bay. He worked for the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) his whole career, starting as a Surveyors Assistant and finishing as Project Supervisor. He build roads and airport runways all over Northern Ontario. He was especially proud of supervising the building of Bending Lake Road right from walking the bush to completion. He was equally proud of the fact that he made friends everywhere he went. He was a gentleman of the old school, treating everyone with kindness, courtesy, respect and friendship. He retired to Rainy River, Ontario where he met and married Linda Abbott. Bob was a loving family man, from his childhood home with mom, dad, brothers and sisters, to his Thunder Bay family with Noreen, Allan(Candyce) and Packer Pete, Gabryelle and Jesyca, to his new home in Rainy River with Linda and Kelly, Irwin, Norma and Ken, sister Carol LaJeunesse, sister in laws Diane Johnston and Verlene Johnston, he loved us all. Bob was predeceased by his parents Edgar and Alice, his wife Linda Johnston, brothers Alfred and Neil Johnston, and nephew Robbie Johnston . Bob was a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, serving at Kakabeka Falls Branch and Major Hughes Branch 54 Rainy River. Bob loved to cook, but more important he loved to feed people. He will long be remembered for his baking and for his wonderful roast beef dinners for the Alzheimer’s Society. The family wishes to thank the Doctors: Caron, Singleton and Ennett and the Rainy River Hospital Staff for their kind and compassionate care. Bob is headed out on a new road trip. See ya later, Bob. Thanks a million. A service of celebration and remembrance will be held in Bob's memory at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kenora and Rainy River Districts Alzheimer Society or the Rainy River Hospital Auxillary, c/o Northridge Funeral Home, Box 89, Emo ON P0W 1E0.
