William Mosbeck Obituary

On February 1, 2019 William “Bill” Mosbeck of RainyCrest Long Term Care and formerly of Emo passed away at the age of 81. Bill was born August 21, 1937 in Rainy River, Ontario to parents Milton and Betty Mosbeck. He was united in marriage to Armine Tompkins on June 19, 1956. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Armine, sons Tom (Emily),Chuck (Cathy), his grandchildren Scott (Michelle) Jay (Janene), Dallas(Kari), Eric (Hope), Cody, Nicollette (Eric} and 12 great grandchildren. He is also survived by brother Cecil, sister Patricia Mosbeck-McDonald, brother-in-law Ken Bekesi. He was Uncle Billy to many special nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his parents Milton & Betty, sister Elaine Bekesi, brother Melvin, Armine’s parents Charlie and Lorraine Tompkins, sister in-law Karen Mosbeck, infant grand-daughter Sarah and nephews Sheldon Mosbeck and Brent McDonald. Bill was a self-driven entrepreneur at heart and joined the family business of Tompkins Hardware in 1956. He also owned and operated with family Ross’ Camp, Ross Air and Emo Inn. Bill’s love of flying began in 1964 and continued throughout his life. He owned and flew float planes. As well as flying commercially, he made many trips to the North including the Canadian Arctic. Friends and family were always included in his adventures of which there were many. Bill was an avid outdoorsman and was also enjoyed operating any piece of equipment. Clearwater Lake was an integral part of Bill & Armine’s life and they were able to enjoy their retirement years there. During this time Bill enjoyed working in his shop and produced many tables, lamps and stools which he gave to family and friends. Bill was happiest when grandchildren and great grandchildren were around. As per Bill’s request, a service of celebration and remembrance will be held at a later date. If desired, memorial donations may be made in Bill’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Kenora/Rainy River Districts or Emo Devlin Barwick Minor Hockey Association, c/o Northridge Funeral Home, Box 89, Emo, ON POWlEO.
