Donovan Labansky Obituary

Donovan Fay Labansky, 76, of Reedsburg, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at his home with his family by his side. He was born August 22, 1940, in Woodland Township, to the late Joseph and Blanche L. (Piehl) Labansky. He graduated from Weston High School in 1958. On April 9, 1960, he married Carolyn J. White. This marriage was blessed with four children. Don was employed by Construction Supply in Madison, where he learned the excavating trade. At the same time, he worked with his brother Clarence at the Meat Market in Mt. Horeb. In 1969, he and his family moved to Reedsburg where he partnered with Winn Bartz to own and operate B&L Construction. Later, he formed his own business, B&L Excavating, retiring in 1999. Don always enjoyed spending time with his family and he never missed an opportunity to joke around with them; he loved giving his grandchildren a hard time. His hobbies included gardening and landscaping, fishing, hunting and playing cards with the “Poker Gang”. He always looked forward to a cup of coffee with his morning coffee buddies. In addition to his wife Carolyn, he is survived by his children: Troy Labansky and Laurie, Tina (Todd) Denman, and Tim Labansky, all of Reedsburg, and special nephew, Greg (Amanda) Klein; Grandchildren: Nathan (Andrea) Escher, Trenton Labansky, Brock Miller, Quentin Labansky, Austin Denman, Hope Bartels, Cole Denman, Jazmyn Labansky and Kaya Denman; great-grandchildren, Leila and Natalie Escher; Sister, Marian McIntyre of Wis. Rapids; sister-in-law, Mary Labansky; special family friend, Tricia Denman; longtime friend, Joe Moll; and many other nieces and nephews along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Todd; parents; sister, Ardith Rabuck; and brothers, Arland, Clarence and Dean Labansky. Funeral Services for Donovan F. Labansky will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 31, 2017, at the Reedsburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Vicki Brantmeyer officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 30, 2017, from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the United Methodist Church, Reedsburg, and again on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow services at Resting Green cemetery in Ironton. The Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg, is assisting the family with arrangements.
