Connie Howe

Howe, Connie Margaret [Dufresne] - With heartfelt sadness the family of Connie Howe announces her passing at the Temiskaming Lodge on Monday June 11, 2018 with her family by her side. Born on January 16, 1938 in Cobalt to Milton and Margaret Dufresne, she spent her younger years working in the bush with her Dad and cooking and looking after her younger siblings with her Mom. In June 1953 she married the love of her life and best friend William Howe in New Liskeard. They moved to Elk Lake not long after to raise their 5 children. Connie is survived by her husband Bill, her daughter Roberta-Lynn (Lloyd) Welsh of Chelmsford, daughter Margaret Howe of Prescott, son William Jr. (Donna) Howe of New Liskeard, son Matthew (Kathy) Howe of Elk Lake and daughter Brenda (Bruce) Culp of Haileybury. Also surviving are her 5 grandchildren Terry (Jana) Welsh of Hafford, Saskatchewan, Christopher (Melissa) Welsh of Chelmsford, Jeffrey Howe of Prescott, Lindsay (Clayton) Maclean of Markstay and Robert (Amanda) Howe of Englehart. Her pride and joy great-grandchildren; Kalista, Kole and Kamron Welsh of Hafford, Saskatchewan, Carter Welsh of Chelmsford and Jake and Wyatt Maclean of Markstay. Connie's favorite memories was having all her children and husband at the supper table every night. She was a wonderful cook (especially her home cooked beans). Her greatest achievement was to cook for every person that walked through the door and they better eat a lot! She was a lifetime member of the Elk Lake Curling Club, member of the Haileybury Heritage Museum, member of the Jack Munroe Society in Elk Lake and volunteered for whoever asked her to do so. An avid curler, she never lost the love for the game, even when she could no longer participate she didn't miss a television event. Connie was predeceased by her parents Milton and Margaret Dufresne; sister Lela (Ernest) Woods, brother Floyd (Francis) Dufresne, brother Robert Dufresne and brother-in-law Thomas Woods. She is survived by her sister Claudette Woods, sister-in-law Della Dufresne, brother Lewis (Terena) Dufresne, sister Brenda (Mervin) Manners, Christine (Ernie) Stetsko, sister-in-law Claire Howe and many, many admired nephews and nieces. The family would like to thank the staff of the Temiskaming Lodge for their kindness and compassion shown at a trying time. Cremation has taken place in the trust and care of Buffam Leveille Funeral Home. Interment of Connie's ashes will take place at Poplar Grove Cemetery in Elk Lake, on Saturday July 21, 2018 at 11:00am. A luncheon will follow at the Eco Resource Centre in Elk Lake at 11:30am, where Elk Lake was and always be home. Donations may be made to the Cobalt- Haileybury Curling Club Little Rock Program or to a charity of your choice. Condolences, contributions and memorial candles may be left at www.buffamleveille.com.
