Rémi Laplante Haileybury, Ontario Obituary

Rémi Laplante

Laplante, Rémi - With profound sorrow the family announces the peaceful passing of Mr Rémi Laplante of Earlton on Saturday March 16, 2019. Rémi died in the comfort of his own home after a lengthy illness with his mother by his side. Born in Haileybury on September 2, 1946 to the late Aime Laplante and to Marie-Anne St-George, Rémi was a long time Earlton resident. Upon his retirement from driving truck for W Lafrance Logging, Rémi found more time to fish, tend to his garden, hunt and cheer on his beloved Montreal Canadians. But more importantly he found more time to spend with his family and enjoyed any time spent with them. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend. His presence will sorely be missed by all those whose life he touched. Rémi is predeceased by his father Aime and by his brother-in-law Jean Paul Labonte. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Madeleine (nee Caron), his children Francine and her husband Denis Toupin, Richard and his wife Francine Laplante, Lorraine Laplante (Gaston Poulin) and Lynne and her husband Jody Robert; his cherished grandchildren Daniel, Jocelyn, Josianne, Patrick, Jonathan, Emilie, Stephanie, Danika, Kailynn and his great granddaughter Sophie-Anne. Also surviving is his mother Mrs Marie-Anne Laplante; his siblings Yvette Sanche, Lise Laplante (Jacinthe Joncas), Johanne Labonte ( Gaetan Groleau), Nicole Laplante (Serge Morneau), Michel and his wife Lisa Laplante as well as many extended family members. The family of the late Rémi Laplante will receive family and friends at St-Jean-Baptiste Church in Earlton on Saturday March 23, 2019 beginning at 10:00am. The memorial mass will follow at 11:00am. Father Germain Turcotte officiating. Inurnment will take place at the Armstrong cemetery in the spring of 2019. As an expression of sympathy donations in Rémi's memory can be made to Community Cancer Care. Condolences may be left at www.buffamleveille.com.
