Edna Heighes Obituary

Edna Heighes ~ of Palmerston and formerly of Minto Township, passed away at Royal Terrace, Palmerston on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 in her 86th year. Edna was the beloved wife of Roy Heighes for the past 62 years, and mother of Heather Heighes and her husband Ivan Bondarenko of Waterloo, and Janice Heighes and her friend Andy Gallacher of Kitchener. Remembered by her brother Les and Shirley Cudney of Elora, and by her sisters-in-law Edna Lyon of Palmerston, and Ethel Edwards of Harriston. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters Verna Bott, Lillian Shoemaker, Russell Cudney, Ivan Cudney, Jeanette Sweeney, and Jean Baker. During the years that Edna and Roy farmed in Minto Township, she worked as the office manager for Dr. Duke Clunas, Dr. Ian Grafton and Dr. John Vanderkooy until her retirement. She was a member of Harriston United Church and sang in the choir for many years. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Royal Terrace for the exceptional care provided by the caregivers. Their friendly and caring way was very much appreciated and will be remembered. Friends may call at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston on Saturday, April 5th for visitation from 12:00 noon until the time of funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Interment in Harriston Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
